Game recap: Gaffney High School Football Team tops Riverside

GAFFNEY, S.C. - A big 27-point first quarter helped carry the Indians to a 35-9 victory over Riverside (Greer, S.C.) on Saturday.

Gaffney scored on a kick return touchdown by Hyleck Foster, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown run by Shaq Davidson and a Davidson touchdown pass to Greg Ellis in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a kick return touchdown by Foster in the first quarter, GHS was up 35-0 at the half.

The Indians raced to 27 in the first quarter alone and never looked back.

Riverside's lone touchdown came on a 29-yard run in the fourth quarter.



Gaffney has had a rough season, allowing 35.6 points per game.

The victory was a step in the right direction for GHS, which was coming off a 61-20 defeat at the hands of Byrnes in its previous game.

Gaffney (6-3) will play a AAAA Region II game against Boiling Springs next week, while Riverside (0-9) will take on Wade Hampton also in a AAAA Region II game.
