Softball Preview: Sunnyside Grizzlies vs. Eastmont Wildcats
Sunnyside is 0-10 against Eastmont since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Grizzlies will welcome the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Sunnyside didn't have quite enough to beat West Valley and fell 9-7. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Eastmont made sure to put some runs up on the board against West Valley on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Rams. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brittany Howe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Eastmont got a massive performance out of Halle Radach, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Liz Fulbright was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.
Eastmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Eastmont has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Sunnyside, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
