Baseball Recap: Wray Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

The Wray Eagles made easy work of the Decatur Community Red Devils on Saturday and carried off a 14-4 victory. Considering the Eagles have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Rockwell made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Wray's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Rockwell was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gage Waitman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Grady Godsey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Wray kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wray's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Decatur Community, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Wray will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Devils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
