            Baseball Recap: Sweet Springs Greyhounds vs. Crest Ridge Cougars        
        
		
        
        
            Crest Ridge hit Sweet Springs with a nine-run fifth inning  on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Greyhounds lost  12-2 to the Cougars. The Greyhounds were not able to make up for their  loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting  back in April of 2024.
 Sweet Springs saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Drayton Hampton, who  went 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases and one  run.  Gabe Benson also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hit of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Sweet Springs and  nudges their season record down to 8-11. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-2 Wellington-Napoleon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.6% over those games). As for Crest Ridge, the  victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.
 Coming up, Sweet Springs will head out on the road to  challenge  Leeton  at 5:00  p.m.  on May 1. As for Crest Ridge, they will challenge Wellington-Napoleon at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
