Basketball Recap: Long Beach Comes Up Short

Long Beach lost against West Harrison back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Long Beach Bearcats took a 67-50 bruising from the West Harrison Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 99th).

West Harrison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Logan Robinson, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Robinson a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Reese, who went 5 for 7 en route to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Long Beach has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for West Harrison, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Long Beach has already played their next matchup (against Picayune), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. West Harrison will welcome George County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
