Softball Game Preview: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Weddington Warriors

The Cuthbertson Cavaliers will challenge the Weddington Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Weddington will be up against a hot Cuthbertson squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went Cuthbertson's way against Myers Park on Wednesday as Cuthbertson made off with an 18-4 victory.

The team relied heavily on Caroline Petroff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Gabby Martens was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Cuthbertson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Myers Park only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, Weddington put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Sun Valley with a sharp 12-1 win.

Cuthbertson pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Weddington, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.

Cuthbertson came out on top in a nail-biter against Weddington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Does Cuthbertson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Weddington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
