Basketball Recap: Centennial Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Centennial waltzed into their contest on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They claimed a resounding 69-23 victory over the East Tigers. 69 seems to be a good number for the Stars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Centennial found their leader in sophomore Kennedy Houston, who went 11 of 18 on her way to 26 points along with six assists and six steals. Houston is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 34 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aza Corbett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 34 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, East still got an impressive performance from Kaliyah Barron, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 47.8% of East's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Makeda Inman, who put up two points and nine boards.

Centennial pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. As for East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-23 win against Northland on the 28th. East has also already played their next contest (against Marion-Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
