Softball Recap: Darien Find Success

Darien proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let the Warde Mustangs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Blue Wave were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Mustangs, so the Blue Wave were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Vivian Knott's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Darien's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Warde, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Darien will face off against rival Danbury at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Wave 1.4, the Hatters 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Warde is set to square off against their familiar foe McMahon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
