Basketball Recap: Grayling Comes Up Short

If Grayling was feeling good fresh off their 44-24 takedown of Kalkaska last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Grayling Vikings fell just short of the Charlevoix Rayders by a score of 34-31 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered against the Rayders since February 24, 2021.

Grayling has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. Charlevoix's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-18.

Grayling and Charlevoix could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. Grayling (ranked 325th) will meet Manton (ranked 70th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Charlevoix will challenge Elk Rapids at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 350 places (574 vs. 224).
