Baseball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

Oxnard fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Foothill Tech on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 back in February.

Koa Cunningham SOP spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Oxnard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aldrian Higgs, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Oxnard dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Foothill Tech, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 6-8 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oxnard will welcome San Marcos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Foothill Tech, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Bonaventure at 7:00 p.m.
