Mathews is 8-1 against Chalker since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Mathews sitting on four straight victories and Chalker on three.

Mathews' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past St. John 11-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by nine runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Chalker took on Bristol on Tuesday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 12-8.

Tatum Hudak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Abby Grimm was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Julia Ross was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Chalker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mathews' win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Chalker, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mathews beat Chalker 7-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
