Preview: Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies vs. Beresford Watchdogs
The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies will head out on the road to square off against the Beresford Watchdogs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Elk Point-Jefferson is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Elk Point-Jefferson pushed their score all the way to 68 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 87-68 fall against Dakota Valley. Elk Point-Jefferson has not had much luck with Dakota Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Beresford entered their tilt with Alcester-Hudson with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Beresford escaped with a win on Saturday against Alcester-Hudson by the margin of a single free throw, 52-51.
Elk Point-Jefferson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Beresford, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Elk Point-Jefferson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Beresford in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elk Point-Jefferson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
