Volleyball Recap: Manual Finds Home Court Redemption Against Englewood

There's no place like home for Manual, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Englewood Pirates with a sharp 3-0 win on Monday. For the Thunderbolts, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Manual walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.

Hermaigiony Ortega paced Manual's offense, picking up six kills. Ortega got some help from Emma Martinez and her 14 assists. Lulyana Hailu controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Despite the defeat, Englewood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lililehua Manfre had 13 digs and two assists.

Manual's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Englewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Manual has already played their next match (against DSST: Montview), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Englewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Jefferson on the 9th.
