            Softball Recap: Mountain View Vikings vs. Flintridge Prep Wolves        
        
		
        
        
            Mountain View fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Flintridge Prep  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flintridge Prep Wolves by a score of  7-6. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in February of 2022.

 Leanna Ramirez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  strikeouts.
 At the plate,  Ashley Saldivar and  Samantha Alvarez stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Saldivar  went a perfect 4-for-4 with three  doubles and one  run, while  Alvarez  went 3-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  run. Those  four  hits gave  Saldivar a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Kasey Lopez, who  went 1-for-2 with one  triple, one  run,  and one  RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and  nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Flintridge Prep,  the  victory  got them back to even at 2-2.
 Mountain View wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next  game,  a  17-2  defeat against Sacred Heart of Jesus on the 1st. As for Flintridge Prep, they will look to defend their home field  on Tuesday against Viewpoint  at 3:30  p.m. Viewpoint is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5  runs per game  this season.
