Baseball Game Preview: El Capitan Gauchos vs. Los Banos Tigers

The El Capitan Gauchos will square off against the Los Banos Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. El Capitan will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Friday, El Capitan beat Golden Valley 6-1.

Fabian Sotelo looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, El Capitan's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noah Ruiz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Los Banos fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Buhach Colony on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 15-7 to the Thunder. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Los Banos also got a good showing from Moises Perez, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Furthermore, Perez didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Julian Cazares was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. Matt Reese also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Los Banos' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for El Capitan, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
