Softball Recap: Sheboygan South Takes a Loss

Sheboygan South extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 42 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-21 in the process. They came up short against the Pulaski Red Raiders, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-0 on Tuesday.

As for Pulaski, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Pulaski's part, Kamrie Dorn looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dorn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Molly Molthen and Paige Abendroth did most of the damage at the plate: Molthen went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Abendroth went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Abendroth has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Reinhard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Sheboygan South will head out on the road to square off against Oostburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Redwings are facing the Flying Dutchmen at the right time seeing as the Flying Dutchmen are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pulaski, they will welcome Ashwaubenon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Red Raiders have won five straight at home, while the Jaguars won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
