Volleyball Game Preview: Edwardsville Tigers vs. O'Fallon Panthers

Edwardsville is 1-9 against O'Fallon since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Tigers will challenge the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Edwardsville didn't have quite enough to beat Belleville East and fell 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Edwardsville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 21-25, 25-19.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nicholas Paschall, who had 18 assists and five digs. Lucas Marsh was another key player, getting 18 assists.

Meanwhile, O'Fallon faced Belleville East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers fell 2-0 to the Lancers. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

O'Fallon was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 20 points in every single set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-20.

Edwardsville's loss dropped their record down to 22-12. As for O'Fallon, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-6.

Edwardsville couldn't quite get it done against O'Fallon when the teams last played back in April as they fell 2-0. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
