Football Recap: Monroe Comes Up Short

Monroe played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 26-6 to the Mount Horeb/Barneveld Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Cheesemakers in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mount Horeb/Barneveld, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1.

Monroe and Mount Horeb/Barneveld should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Cheesemakers (ranked 63rd) will meet Jefferson (ranked 288th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mount Horeb/Barneveld will challenge Beaver Dam at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (34 vs. 128).
