Softball Preview: Vasquez Mustangs vs. Faith Baptist Contenders
The Vasquez Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Faith Baptist Contenders at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Last Monday, Vasquez suffered a tough 15-5 loss at the hands of Wiseburn- Da Vinci.
Hartley Lundquist made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Leannie Lopez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Faith Baptist came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 25-19 victory. The result was nothing new for Faith Baptist, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Hailey Coronel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Coronel was even better at the plate, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with a home run, five stolen bases, and four runs.
