Baseball Recap: Mammoth Takes a Loss

Mammoth extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the Boron Bobcats, falling 14-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.

DJ Gray was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Martin Walker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Boron, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Boron's side, the team relied heavily on Logann Brown, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. The Bobcats are undefeated when Brown posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Malachi Rucker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Mammoth has already played their next matchup, a 6-1 victory against Lone Pine on the 5th. As for Boron, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Rosamond on the 6th.
