Basketball Recap: Josie Mondello-Garrett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Preble Shawnee over Twin Valley South

Preble Shawnee managed to keep up with Twin Valley South until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Preble Shawnee Arrows lost 59-36 to the Twin Valley South Panthers. The Arrows were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Preble Shawnee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Mondello-Garrett, who posted seven points and four steals. Mondello-Garrett is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Preble Shawnee has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Twin Valley South, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Preble Shawnee will take on Oakwood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Preble Shawnee likes a good challenge. As for Twin Valley South, they will host Tri-County North at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri-County North will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Twin Valley South surely won't give up without a fight.
