Football Recap: Hayesville Yellowjackets vs. Swain County Maroon Devils
Hayesville fell victim to Swain County and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Maroon Devils. That makes it the first time this season the Yellowjackets have let down their home crowd.
Peyton McGaha threw for 114 yards on ten of 19 attempts. Ben Bethel was his top target, picking up 56 receiving yards. On the ground, Tre Graves rushed for 66 yards.
Zeke Glaspie had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns for Swain County. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Glaspie a new career-high.
Hayesville's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Swain County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.
Hayesville will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Murphy at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Graves and Cameron Clem. As for Swain County, they have already played their next contest, a 40-14 victory against Cherokee on the 17th.
