Basketball Recap: Wharton Comes Up Short

Wharton lost against Bay City back in November of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Wharton Tigers lost to the Bay City Blackcats at home by a 55-40 margin. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Bay City to victory were Khylee Perry and Sasha Onwuchekwa. Perry dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards, while Onwuchekwa dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. What's more, Perry also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Valerie Aguilera, who went 9 of 19 on her way to 16 points.

Wharton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Bay City, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.

Wharton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-34 win against Calhoun on the 5th. As for Bay City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 31-30 loss against Columbia on the 6th.
