Baseball Game Preview: Oley Valley Lynx vs. Kutztown Cougars

Oley Valley is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Kutztown is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lynx will host the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oley Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Oley Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Antietam on Monday. The Lynx never let the Mountaineers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Lynx have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Nicholas DeBalko got the start for Oley Valley and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave DeBalko a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Vincenzo Fick was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Williamson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Oley Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kutztown beat Executive Education Academy Charter School 12-9 on Monday.

Kutztown's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Oley Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 12-4.

Oley Valley beat Kutztown 4-1 when the teams last played on April 1st. Will the Lynx repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
