Baseball Recap: Rainier Comes Up Short

Rainier managed to slip by Neah-Kah-Nie the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Columbians came up short against the Pirates on Wednesday, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Columbians have suffered against the Pirates since April 28, 2023.

Q Jackson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Mattinen, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Rainier dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Neah-Kah-Nie, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rainier will welcome Horizon Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Neah-Kah-Nie, they will challenge Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
