Softball Game Preview: Taft Raiders vs. Brennan Bears

Taft is 2-8 against Brennan since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Raiders will head out to square off against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Taft's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Brennan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Taft lost 15-3 to Harlan on Friday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Raiders, who until this game were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.

Taft saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Quiroz, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Brennan came out on top against Stevens on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Bears walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Falcons. Eight seems to be a good number for the Bears as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Brennan got a big performance out of Alana Carreon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Carreon has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Avery Leatherman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Brennan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Brennan, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Taft skirted past Brennan 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
