Basketball Game Preview: Riverside-Durham Pirates vs. Jordan Falcons

Riverside-Durham hasn't had much luck against Jordan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Riverside-Durham Pirates will head out to square off against the Jordan Falcons at 8:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverside-Durham is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They snuck past Chapel Hill with a 39-33 win on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pirates' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 360th, while the Tigers are ranked 72nd).

Meanwhile, Jordan had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 55-29 margin over the Tigers. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.

Jordan pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Riverside-Durham, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.

Riverside-Durham came up short against Jordan when the teams last played back in January, falling 57-51. Can Riverside-Durham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
