Football Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for St. Petersburg

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Petersburg walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 31-7 margin over the Chamberlain Storm on Wednesday. The Green Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Ellie Swain was a one-woman wrecking crew as she picked up 128 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 34 yards. Madison Harting got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win (which was St. Petersburg's seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Chamberlain, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.

Coming up, St. Petersburg will host Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Green Devils 8.9, the Terriers 14.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Chamberlain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
