Football Game Preview: Auburn Rockets vs. Doherty Memorial Highlanders + Official Tickets

For the first time this season, Auburn will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing at home against the Doherty Memorial Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Auburn knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Doherty Memorial likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Auburn needed a bit of extra time to put away Uxbridge. They managed a 39-33 win over the Spartans. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Rockets were down 33-18 in the third quarter.

Bradyn Belanger was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 184 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also picked up 42 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 184 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jayden Ortiz was another key player, throwing for 181 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 38 points the game before, Doherty Memorial was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shrewsbury. The game marked the Highlanders' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Doherty Memorial dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Auburn, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Auburn came up short against Doherty Memorial in their previous meeting back in September of 2015, falling 20-14. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
