Basketball Recap: Solomon Krommenhoek's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maple Mountain over Cedar Valley

Maple Mountain lost against Cedar Valley back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles fell to the Cedar Valley Aviators 63-57. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maple Mountain's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Solomon Krommenhoek, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points. Elijah Liddiard was another key player, going 6 for 11 en route to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Maple Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Maple Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Cedar Valley, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maple Mountain will head out to face off against Spanish Fork at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Maple Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season. As for Cedar Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Orem at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. One thing working in Orem's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matches.
