Baseball Recap: Richlands Wins Going Away Against White Oak

Richlands was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the White Oak Vikings. That looming 7-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Jaden Goins and Lucas Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Goins scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Roberts scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Goins a new career-high in RBI (two). Ashton Courdle also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win got Richlands back to even at 5-5. As for White Oak, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Richlands Wildcats face off against Croatan Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richlands' pitchers better be ready for this one: Croatan has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for White Oak, they will head out to square off against Northside - Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
