Softball Game Preview: The Meadows School Mustangs vs. Valley Vikings

The Meadows School is a perfect 3-0 against Valley since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mustangs will square off against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. The Meadows School has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The Meadows School lost 20-2 to Boulder City on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The Meadows School saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Howard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Howard has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Meanwhile, Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They came up short against Sunrise Mountain, falling 27-14. On the bright side, the 14- run performance marked the Vikings' highest-scoring match to date.

Nataly Bermudez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 5-for-5. Another player making a difference was Daisy Briceno, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for The Meadows School, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: The Meadows School has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Valley, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given The Meadows School's sizable advantage in that area, the Vikings will need to find a way to close that gap.

The Meadows School took their victory against Valley when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 27-11 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
