Basketball Recap: Nickerson Takes a Loss

Nickerson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 79-16 loss at the hands of the Little River Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Redskins are ranked eighth).

Arika Feldman was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points and seven boards for Little River. Feldman has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Avery Lafferty was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Nickerson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Little River, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Nickerson and Little River's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Nickerson and Haven (who has only given up 27.2 points per game) will meet on January 28th. Meanwhile, Little River will square off against St. John at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, a team that's only allowed 27.45 points per game.
