Basketball Recap: Grace Zahn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fairbanks over Mechanicsburg

Fairbanks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 52-45 to the Mechanicsburg Indians. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-30 back in December of 2024.

Fairbanks lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grace Zahn, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Boehm, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Fairbanks' defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Mechanicsburg, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Fairbanks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-35 victory against Cedarville on the 20th. Mechanicsburg has also already played their next matchup (against West Liberty-Salem), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
