Softball Recap: Corvian Community Wins Going Away Against Christ the King

Corvian Community not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024. They blew past the Christ the King Crusaders 14-5. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.

Jordan Hoskins made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5.

In other batting news, Journey Kimble and Emily Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Kimble scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Johnson scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Charleigh Nagel, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Corvian Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. They are 3-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Corvian Community picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Christ the King, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Corvian Community will take on Mountain Island Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christ the King, they will square off against Langtree Charter Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
