Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Valley Vikings

The Cheyenne Desert Shields will venture away from home to face off against the Valley Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Cheyenne had to suffer through a 58-9 loss at the hands of Somerset Academy Losee. While losing is never fun, the Desert Shields can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Lions are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Valley ended up a good deal behind Las Vegas on Friday and lost 55-40.

Cheyenne has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.

Cheyenne suffered a grim 48-27 defeat to Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Cheyenne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
