Basketball Recap: Arlington Comes Up Short

Arlington lost against Lamar back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Arlington Colts came up short against the Lamar Vikings, falling 56-36. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 852nd, while the Vikings are ranked 347th).

Lamar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Markesia Webster, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave Webster a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Fennix Roberts, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Arlington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington will challenge Grand Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lamar, they will head out to square off against Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
