Softball Recap: Sherman Oaks CES Drops Season-High Score on Fulton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sherman Oaks CES). They were the clear victors by a 33-2 margin over the Fulton Jaguars on Wednesday. Considering the Knights have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Stella Brewer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Rosenthal, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and one double while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Sophia Pirayesh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Sherman Oaks CES always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .755. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .532 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

Sherman Oaks CES' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.8 runs over those games. As for Fulton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Sherman Oaks CES didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-3 win against Hollywood on the 25th. As for Fulton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 25-0 defeat against Northridge Academy on the 28th.
