The Scurry-Rosser Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Rockwall-Heath Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It was a proper cat-fight when Scurry-Rosser challenged Mabank on Wednesday. Scurry-Rosser came up short against Mabank, falling 23-13. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Emilie Johnstone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Banks, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Scurry-Rosser always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rockwall-Heath). They blew past Tyler Legacy 17-2 on Wednesday. The Hawks not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2, 2024.
Alex Pitre was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Rockwall-Heath got a massive performance out of Jada Williams, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Taylor Scott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Rockwall-Heath's record is now 5-9. As for Scurry-Rosser, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Rockwall-Heath's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Scurry-Rosser has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434.
