Baseball Game Preview: Northampton Blue Devils vs. Southwick Regional Rams

The Northampton Blue Devils will challenge the Southwick Regional Rams at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Northampton and eight for Southwick Regional.

Things were looking good for Northampton after they put the first run on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monument Mountain.

Northampton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Calvin Sanborn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Sanborn has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10-1 otherwise. Maceo Nteta was another, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Monument Mountain hit Southwick Regional with a ten-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Spartans, falling 11-1.

Southwick Regional's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11-1.
