The O'Connor Eagles had just enough and edged the Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions out 28-25 thanks in part to Corbin, who rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Corbin was just one part of a punishing run game: O'Connor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 270 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Ridge only rushed for 133.
Mountain Ridge lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Fernandez, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Fernandez got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Baughman, who threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns.
O'Connor's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Mountain Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-6.
O'Connor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-28 loss against Queen Creek on the 15th. Mountain Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
