Basketball Recap: James Island Takes a Loss

James Island was the 77-49 winner over West Ashley when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The James Island Trojans were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to the West Ashley Wildcats.

James Island lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Ward, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds. Matthew Gladden was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

James Island's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for West Ashley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.

James Island will challenge Summerville at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Summerville will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something James Island surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Ashley, they will square off against Fort Dorchester at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Dorchester is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
