Basketball Recap: Oliver Martin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Neosho over Nixa

If Neosho was riding high fresh off their 88-56 takedown of Cassville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Neosho Wildcats took a 76-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nixa Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Eagles are ranked fifth).

Neosho lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Oliver Martin, who went 7-for-14 to rack up 15 points and eight assists. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kaiden Asberry was another key player, putting up 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Neosho has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. The victory was the 14th in a row for Nixa, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

As of now, neither Neosho nor Nixa have any future games scheduled.
