Softball Recap: Seminole Ridge Takes a Loss

Seminole Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to the Palm Beach Gardens Gators, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Cailee Sessions spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Seminole Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Coffie, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Seminole Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Palm Beach Gardens, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Seminole Ridge Hawks duke it out with Forest Hill Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Seminole Ridge has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they will head out to challenge Wellington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Palm Beach Gardens' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Wellington's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
