Basketball Recap: Pahrump Valley Comes Up Short

Pahrump Valley played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 67-44 to the Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Pahrump Valley still got an impressive performance from Joshua Slusher, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Slusher a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Antwahn Jackson, who had seven points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Pahrump Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Leading Doral Academy Red Rock to victory were Brennan Cuello and Daiton Williams. Cuello went 10 of 16 on his way to 22 points and six steals, while Williams went 8 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Paris Brown, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Pahrump Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-6.

Pahrump Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Doral Academy Red Rock, they will venture away from home to challenge Innovations International at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Doral Academy Red Rock is facing Innovations International at the right time seeing as Innovations International is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
