Baseball Game Preview: Florida Christian Patriots vs. Miami Christian Victors

The Florida Christian Patriots will square off against the Miami Christian Victors at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Florida Christian has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Florida Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past St. Brendan 1-0. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Steven Gonzalez's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Florida Christian's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Sanchez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Miami Christian can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They skirted past Schoolhouse Prep 5-4.

Miami Christian pushed their record up to 9-13 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Florida Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.

Florida Christian might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Miami Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
