Basketball Recap: Atlanta Jewish Academy Comes Up Short

Atlanta Jewish Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Mary's Academy Bobcats. The Jaguar were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 56-49.

Despite the loss, Atlanta Jewish Academy still got an impressive performance from Zac Agichtein, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 38 points and nine boards. Agichtein's evening made it 17 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Aryeh Cohen, who posted four points.

Atlanta Jewish Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for St. Mary's Academy, they moved to 4-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlanta Jewish Academy will venture away from home to take on The Weber School at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Atlanta Jewish Academy is facing The Weber School at the right time seeing as The Weber School is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for St. Mary's Academy, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the St. Mary's Academy Bobcats face off against the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's Academy will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Holy Spirit Prep will have lost eight straight heading into Tuesday's matchup.
