Basketball Game Preview: Bowdon Red Devils vs. Temple Tigers

Bowdon is 2-8 against Temple since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bowdon Red Devils will take on the Temple Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Bowdon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Temple likes a good challenge.

Bowdon's tournament run continued when they took on Haralson County on Saturday. Bowdon breezed by Haralson County to the tune of 73-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Red Devils have posted against the Rebels since December 30, 2019.

Bowdon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaiden Prothro led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 22 boards. The game was Prothro's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madden Jones, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Bowdon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Temple had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They skirted past the Eagles 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since February 15, 2024.

Temple is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Bowdon, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Bowdon was taken down by Temple 81-50 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Bowdon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
