Baseball Recap: Emmaus Hornets vs. Freedom Patriots
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Emmaus can now relate to. They fell just short of the Freedom Patriots by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Jaden Betz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Emmaus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Fleetwood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
This is the second loss in a row for Emmaus and nudges their season record down to 11-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Freedom, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Emmaus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Freedom, they will head out to take on Liberty at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
