Baseball Recap: Tarpon Springs Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tarpon Springs had no problem doing just that on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Boca Ciega Pirates 3-1. The Spongers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alex Finch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Tarpon Springs: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Tarpon Springs saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyzer Campbell, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Tarpon Springs' record now sits at 12-14. As for Boca Ciega, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Coming up, Tarpon Springs will face off against Dunedin on Tuesday. Boca Ciega does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
